This Car Climbed Mount Washington Too

There is a popular bumper sticker in New Hampshire. Although there's aren't too many here, every so often you'll see a car with a New Hampshire license plate and a sticker that proudly proclaims, "This car climbed Mount Washington." It's an impressive feat; Mount Washington is 6288' feet high. The folks at Subaru decided that's not impressive enough, though. For Subaru, it's not enough for a car to climb Mount Washington; it has to climb it faster than anybody else.

On July 12, 2017, Subaru made history yet again. The previous record for reaching the summit was set by David Higgins (part of Subaru Rally Team USA) back in 2014: 6:09:09. This year, Travis Pastrana (also part of Subaru Rally team USA) shattered that record, bringing it down to 5:44:72. Pastrana drove a customized Subaru WRX STI with a 600 horsepower engine, and he was able to shave almost 25 seconds off the previous time.

While you might not be able to break the Mount Washington record in your Subaru, you can still enjoy a comfortable, capable ride. And of course, if you do decide to shoot for the Mount Washington record, a Subaru is your best bet.
